When a Smile Turns Genuine with Hope

When Bree* walked into Choices Clinic, she had a smile on her face — warm, calm, collected. At first glance, you’d never know the weight she was carrying. What wasn’t visible in that first moment was the deep indecision she was feeling about her pregnancy.
Bree was seriously considering ordering abortion pills online.
Her client advocate began the appointment with a few general questions to better understand her situation. But when Bree was asked, “What are your plans for the pregnancy?” the truth came out. She admitted she was leaning toward abortion.
Family dynamics had left her feeling unsupported and emotionally wounded. Having a baby in the middle of it all felt overwhelming — maybe even impossible. The father of the baby told her, “Whatever you want to do, it’s your decision.”
We hear that phrase a lot. And yet, many women quietly tell us later, “I wish he had said, ‘We’ll figure this out together. I support you.’”
Another close family member echoed the same indifference, and a friend even went so far as to send Bree a link to order abortion pills online. Bree showed her advocate the website. The pills could be at her doorstep in three days. Her friend reassured her, saying she had taken them recently and had been "fine."
The weight of Bree’s situation was heavy — but there was still hope.
There were glimmers in her story. One of her siblings was encouraging her to choose life. Bree herself said she never thought she’d even consider abortion. She was a Christian, and her faith was making her pause — making her ask deep, vital questions.
Her client advocate reminded her that God was not surprised by this pregnancy, and that He would equip her for whatever challenges lay ahead. No matter what her circumstances looked like, she was not alone.
When Bree returned for her ultrasound, everything changed.
There on the screen was her baby — full of life. She smiled, and this time, it wasn’t forced. Something lifted in that moment. A lightness. A shift.
“I can do it,” Bree said, her smile now genuine.
She chose life!
